About the Bible (specifically NT): Given that it is accepted by Christians that the gospels were written from?

about 70 yrs after the fact and not by eyewitnesses; amd notwithstanding the allegation that the authors were God-inspired. Isn't it possible that those who related the stories either lied or misinterpreted facts like virgin birth, water turned into wine, walking on water, Lazurus story, resurrection etc?
