Whats the waiting period on aflac std?

so i just found out about aflac's std option, which is great for people like me with no insurance...and i have some questions. i know you have to have signed up 10 months prior to giving birth if youre using the maternity leave part, but what if i have to be on bed rest from complications? i read the online brochure but its not very helpful......will i be able to collect before 10 months on everything else or no?
