Viruses are not considered to be alive because…?

B is probably the answer. However I don't have a problem with not requiring something to have a cell to be considered alive. However, since viruses have no metabolism, do not maintain homeostasis, and don't even actively seek out a cell but rather just bump into it accidentally, I don't consider them alive.
